Christmas and New Year is typically that time of year when it can be easier to over indulge with food that you otherwise wouldn't normally eat!
Here are Kim's top tips to have a great time but still stay on track during this busy, social time...
Fit in an exercise session earlier in day - this will help kill those extra calories and curb appetite
If you're going to a social gathering, bring a healthy plate with you (ie. fruit salad, kebabs, veg and hummus platter) and snack on those first
Use a small plate to fill up on and eat until 80% full
Have a big healthy breakfast - bacon, eggs & mushrooms, tomato, spinach, avocado - this will satisfy and keep you fuller for longer
Share dessert with a friend - half the portion means half the calories!
Don’t drink at every occasion as liquid calories add up quickly (250 calories per drink at least)
You will burn alcohol first, then sugar and then fat. Vodka and soda water has 100 less calories than champagne and beer, and NEVERMIND those snacks like pizza and kebabs when you get the munchies later in the evening!
Enjoy a treat and eat healthy for the rest of the lunch/evening - the old 80/20 rule. Don’t beat yourself up about what you eat - turn a setback into a comeback and keep moving forward.…
Chew your food slowly and enjoy the taste and flavour. This will reduce bloating and let the brain know when you are full
Use the occasion to catch up with friends and avoid the food table. Conversation = 0 calories!
Aim for progress not perfection
Enjoy the festive season and continue on toward your 2018 goals
Remember it is not the LAST SUPPER! Make 2018 your best self yet!
Have a fantastic break and a great Christmas - see you in the New Year!
Kim (:
