“My Personal Mission Statement is to inspire those new to exercise, stressed out by life, intimidated by gyms or just time-poor, to lead a healthier lifestyle through regular exercise, good nutrition and a positive outlook”.

 

Since emigrating from the UK in August 2007, Nick Ellson worked as a Personal Trainer before making the decision to step out on his own by founding Northside Fitness in December 2008.

 

Originally from South-East England, in London he gained 5 years experience in a busy health club, with roles ranging from Service Manager to Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Coach.  He ran a successful Triathlon Club for 12 months culminating in 6 novices completing a Sprint Distance event.

 

Industry qualifications include Certificate III and IV in Fitness (Australian Institute of Fitness - Master Trainer), Exercise Coach and Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 1 (C.H.E.K. Institute),  RPM International Instructor (Les Mills), and Senior First Aid/ CPR. He also holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Management.

 

Nick’s passions are cycling, running and swimming.  Each year he competes in the Noosa Triathlon, the Mt-Cootha Bike Challenge, the Brisbane to Noosa cycle (160km) and the Brisbane to Gold Coast cycle (100km). Other notable achievements  include cycling 200km in the opening public stage of the 2007 Tour De France and completing the New York Marathon in 3:30.  Nick has completed several half marathons, numerous Olympic and sprint distance triathlons and multi-day adventure races.

 

 

 

 

Richelle Street

A Brisbane local, Richelle has always had a passion for health and fitness – she has played futsal, soccer and run cross country at various representative levels.  Richelle’s passion and dedication to sport was recognised in 2006 when the International Olympic Committee awarded her the Peirre de Coubertin award as an athlete who demonstrated the spirit of sportsmanship.


More recently Richelle completed the 2009 Gold Coast Half marathon in under 90 minutes and placed 1st in the 2009 Brisbane marathon (U/25).
Through her extensive studies she has gained valuable experience in exercise prescription and programming for individuals with chronic pain, cardiovascular complications, metabolic conditions, neurological and pulmonary disorders.
Richelle’s qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Human Movement Studies
  • Accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • member of Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
    Certificate III and IV in Fitness
  • Registered Heartmoves instructor with The Heart Foundation
    Senior First Aid/ CPR.

Richelle has considerable training experience and strives to instil in her clients a philosophy of ‘exercise as medicine’ and positive lifestyle changes.

 

 Aaron Simson-Woods

Aaron Simson-Woods

Aaron has worked as a ski instructor in the USA and at Perisher and has also trained members of both the Australian Bobsleigh Team and Queensland Orienteering Team.  He is a qualified Alpine ski instructor (Professional Ski Instructor of America) and an accredited Orienteering Coach (Orienteering Australia).

Currently completing the 3rd year of a Human Movement degree, Aaron finds time to referee indoor soccer and is a member of the Australian Bobsleigh team.  He is passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle which includes healthy eating, and his training emphasises the use of correct technique.  Aaron aims to instil in his clients the benefits of long term physical activity and he actively encourages the enjoyment of exercise.
