Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long will each session last?

All Personal Training sessions are 45 minutes in duration and include a warm up, cool down, assisted stretching and neck and shoulder massage.  Group Fitness classes last between 45mins and 60mins (see timetable) and include a warm up, cooldown and stretching.

2. Where will the sessions take place?

Personal Training sessions will normally take place at your house – in the yard or garden.  Alternatively we can meet at a local park.  Please feel free to review the full list of the north and west suburbs of Brisbane we service.  For Group Fitness locations, please see the timetable.

3. What should I wear?

Please wear appropriate clothing for your session: comfy training/ sports shoes, track pants/ sports shorts, sports t-shirt/ top.

4. What should I bring with me?

Bring a water bottle. Take regular sips throughout the session. You will also need a towel.  Northside Fitness provides all other equipment but please inform Nick if you have any of your own exercise equipment that might be suitable (for Personal Training sessions).

5. What and how long before the session, should I eat?

Ensure you have eaten 1-2 hours before your session. Your rate of metabolism will determine what, and how soon before you exercise, you can eat.  A light snack is recommended (even if this is first thing in the morning) – try a banana, energy bar or small bowl of cereal and fruit. Contact us for further information and advice on eating plans and how to eat according to YOUR body type.

6. How fast can I expect results?

The body takes time to adapt to physical change. Don't expect overnight results or in the first week. You are making a long term, and life changing decision, to exercise more, and to eat a healthy diet. You must allow 10-12 weeks to see real change. We will constantly monitor your progress and keep you motivated throughout.

7. What happens if I need to cancel my session at the last minute?

People get sick, become ill and have unexpected work committments.  We need to balance that against our own business requirements, however.  As a result, we feel a 24 hour cancellation policy is a fair compromise.  This means if you are unable to attend your training session and cannot provide 24 hours written notice (email or text message), your missed session will be automatically marked off your pre-paid/monthly Session Log.

8. What will happen to my payment plan/sessions if I go on holiday?

Holidays?  How can you leave us?Nevertheless, if you are heading away please let us know at least 2 weeks in advance of the dates you will be away.  Your payment plan can then be adjusted accordingly.

9. What happens if I become ill or suffer an injury?

Please tell us immediately!  A decision will then be made on whether you need to postpone your training with Northside Fitness and for how long.  Your health and wellbeing are our No.1 priority so every effort will be made to ensure you take adequate rest and recovery when necessary.

10. I have prepaid for a 10/20 Pack of sessions - can I postpone my sessions indefinitely?

Indefinitely is a long time.  Our Personal Training and Group Fitness packages do have a 'use by date':

- 10-Pack to be completed in 3 months

- 20-Pack to be completed in 6 months

Exceptional circumstances are considered on an individual basis - please contact Nick.

11. What happens if I pay by Direct Debit and I want to cancel (or postpone) my membership with Northside Fitness?

We hope that you will never leave!  However, if you do decide you wish to cancel (or postpone) your Direct debit, we do require at least 14 days notice in writing.
